Petrochemicals - Brazil - Carbono partners with Graъna Quнmica, expects to increase sales

Brazilian chemicals and solvents producers and distributors Carbono Química and Graúna Química have announced a partnership for product development and domestic distribution.

"We expect a 10-15% improvement in sales of products that use additives provided by Graúna," Carbono's business development director Rodrigo Gabriel told BNamericas, referring to UV additives used in resins, paints and varnish production.

"Graúna has the expertise to add value to the products, and Carbono has the knowledge in logistics and distribution," according to Gabriel.

In addition to increasing sales nationwide, the partnership provides Carbono with a reliable supplier and technical development for its products, the executive said.

"Carbono believes there will be more opportunities for growth in the domestic market and is preparing to supply it," company director Washington Yamaga had said previously, referring to the effects of the international crisis on the company's business.

The company announced an 8mn-real (US$3.2mn) investment plan in Brazil over the next three years and forecasts net revenues of 200mn reais in 2008.

Carbono exports to Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador, mostly products used in the paints and varnish industries, and agrochemical inputs to Paraguay.
