Investors interested in the concession for improving and operating Paita port, in Peru's Piura region, have until February 13, 2009 to present documents in the prequalification process, state agency for the promotion of private investment ProInversión announced in a release.
Shortlisted firms will be selected up to March 3 next year.
The deadline to present technical and economic proposals, as well as the date to award the concession, will depend on public transport investment regulator Ositran, which has to revise the concession contract, the release said.
ProInversión hopes to have the final draft of the contract ready for prequalified firms 35 days after Ositran makes its observations, and receive proposals 61 days later.
The port concession should be awarded 67 days after Ositran makes its observations, the entity said.
The 30-year Paita concession consists of the design, construction, financing, maintenance and operation of the port.
The concessionaire is expected to invest nearly US$128mn to build and operate a new container terminal, as well as modernize and rehabilitate existing infrastructure.
The concession will be awarded to the firm that offers the most additional investment for the project.
