Insurance - Argentina - Mapfre shoots for US$494mn in revenues in 2008

Spanish insurer Mapfre is looking to post revenues of 1.58bn pesos (US$494mn) from its Argentine P&C, car, health, life and worker compensation insurer (ART) units in 2008.


In a press release, Mapfre Argentina said it led the non-life market for the third straight year with an 8.57% premium market share or 1.45bn pesos in the fiscal year ended June 30.

Mapfre said it has 503,000 corporate customers, 1.99mn life insurance policyholders, 853,800 ART clients, 335,700 cars and 97,500 homes insured in Argentina.

Mapfre operates through 330 branches and 4,000 brokers in Argentina.
